Child & Teen Counseling
Child & Teen Counseling in Nashville, TN
Is your child struggling in ways that worry you? Are they withdrawing, acting out, or carrying a weight that seems too heavy for someone so young? You’re not alone, and neither are they.
At from Within Counseling, we provide individual and group therapy for children and adolescents ages 5–18. Our licensed counselors are experienced, caring, and skilled at building the kind of trust with young people that makes real change possible.
Children and teens don’t always have words for what they’re experiencing. Our counselors are trained to help them find their voice and work through:

Common Concerns We Work With
OUR APPROACH
Relationship First. Then Real Work.
We believe in kids, not just in who they might become if everything goes perfectly, but in who they can become through life’s hardest moments.
The children who go through the most often end up with the most character, compassion, and resilience. Our job is to help them get there.
Our counselors use evidence-based approaches tailored to each child’s needs, including play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and attachment-based approaches. Sessions are collaborative, developmentally appropriate, and as engaging as they are meaningful.
Parents are always kept in the loop. We believe families heal best together.

Group Counseling for Children
Children describe group as a place where kids are nice, help you with your problems, and don’t make fun of you. Kids also say they like group because you go out to eat, play games, and make friends. Our groups are for any child (K-6th) who would benefit from an encouraging and supportive environment where they can open up with their peers and grow in areas of weakness.
Group is also a good place for kids to talk about things that promote their character development and their emotional, social, and spiritual maturity (for example: handling conflict with siblings or bullies, dealing with loss, showing empathy, reading social cues, handling frustration and worry, seeing their value, etc). Our hope is that any child participating in group will learn to build each other up and help each other out, not in spite of what they’ve been through or struggled with, but because of it.
Groups are divided according to age and grade: (K-1st, 2nd-4th, and 5th-6th)
Group Counseling for Teens
Teens need a safe place where they feel like:
They belong
Their presence matters
They can be open and honest
They are not the only ones who struggle, feel left out, have trouble making friends, are self-conscious or insecure
Our hope is that group would provide this kind of place for any teen who participates, and that by participating, teens would learn how to be this kind of place for others.
